Makhaza Public Transport Interchange taking shape

24 June 2022

The Makhaza Public Transport Interchange construction is making good progress. Read more below:

Work done to date includes the following:

  • Sewer, water, and stormwater works
  • Layer works for the internal roads
  • Kerb laying
  • Concrete structure for the canopy

Currently, the contractor is working on:

  • The construction of the building
  • Completion of the internal roads
  • The construction of the median
  • Installing of canopy roof trusses.

‘There is still a lot of work to be done, however, it is encouraging to see how the structure is coming together. Part of the construction required us to close some roads and the officials tell me that there has been immense support and cooperation during the road closure, especially from the local taxi association. This is encouraging and shows that our residents understand and appreciate the service we are delivering. The support goes a long way in ensuring continuous development of their communities and helps the project,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
